Nick Diaz's refusal to promote his own title fight means he won't get it, after all.
In an unprecedented moment for mixed martial arts, the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Wednesday replaced Diaz with Carlos Condit in the main event of next month's UFC 137 event in Las Vegas. Condit will challenge welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at the Oct. 29 show.
"I've promoted over 1,600 fights in my career," UFC President Dana White said. "This has never, ever happened once. Never. We've never had a situation where a guy just goes MIA and doesn't show up for this stuff."

St-Pierre vs Diaz get a UFC Primetime Treatment
The next installment of the "UFC Primetime" event-preview series could feature a fighter who often hates the attention.
For the next edition of the three-part Spike TV series, UFC 137 headliners Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) and Nick Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) likely will be featured.
UFC president Dana White, though, admits the inclusion of Diaz could present hurdles, but he's confident they can be overcome.

It's Official, UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Diaz in Sin City on October 29
The Nevada State Athletic Commission recently added the show, which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, to its tentative calendar.
As UFC president Dana White recently announced, the pay-per-view headliner pits UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) against Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC).
Only St-Pierre's title will be on the line. Diaz, in fact, will vacate his Strikeforce belt as part of a move to the UFC (though he'll have the option to return to his former home, which the UFC recently acquired, if he doesn't win the UFC title).

St-Pierre vs Diaz: UFC 137 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas
Despite his recent insistence that a bout between current UFC champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) and Strikeforce title holder Nick Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was anything but a done deal, UFC president Dana White today announced the two welterweights will clash in the main event of the previously unannounced UFC 137 event.
According to White, the UFC welterweight title contest will take place Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
